What Was Fashion Like In The 1980s?

If there is one thing that the eighties can be commended for was the creativity it showed in fashion design. Convention was abandoned and designers began to display interesting creations.

However it must be pointed out that the fashion most people associate with that era actually didn't evolve till the mid 80s with the likes of pop icon Cyndi Lauper, who is claimed to be one of  responsible for bringing in this new style.

So what unique about the fashion then?

First off, the type of accessories people wore changed. Sunglasses, hoop earrings and bangles were in, and they had to be bright colored - neon preferably.

The makeup colors changed too - loud was in. Teased hair became part of the style for the decade.

Although these changes in style caught on fast with the younger generation, but the era was a fun decade and soon all women began to catch on with these new ideas and have fun too.

Things were very 'flexible' back then and it was not unusual to see women change their style of dressing every day.

If the fashion of the 80s interest you, I came across this great website [linked below] which goes into detail on what the fashion was like then detailing it year by year. Men's fashion is cover too, just scroll down. For more information - Go to: > This Website <
